Using Witnesses When Fighting a Traffic

Everyone commits a mistake, especially on the road. Even the most seasoned drivers sometimes slip up behind the wheel and get stuck with speeding tickets or other traffic tickets.

If you receive a speeding ticket or other traffic citation, you have two options: admit your guilt and pay the price or you might decide to contest a traffic ticket instead.

If you take the second option and plan to fight a traffic ticket, be sure to use a witness to bolster your case.

Who makes a traffic witness?

When you are issued a ticket, there are many people on the road that saw the incident. Any one or more of them qualify as a witness.

The important thing is that the witness was present during beginning to end of the incident to provide a solid account of what transpired. So getting someone who saw only a part of the incident would not qualify as a witness.

Secure the statement (s) of the witnesses (es)
When you have a witness, that person must be able to give a complete account of everything which happened.

After a traffic incident, gather as much witnesses as you can; interview them and encourage them to talk about the situation in details and write down their statement verbatim.

Once you have written their statements, have them sign with the date so you have a record of their statements. Also get their complete address and telephone number.

If you have received a traffic ticket, please contact an experienced PA traffic ticket lawyer. Protect your right to drive legally.
